Woodward UA201111 U-Joint – .750-20 x .625 Spline (23 or 36 teeth, verify)

The Woodward UA201111 U-joint is a precision steering universal joint for professional motorsport and high-performance steering systems.

This configuration combines the Woodward 201 .750"-20 spline with a Woodward 111 .625" (16 mm), 23 or 36-tooth spline, providing a direct and compact connection between steering components using these two different steering shaft spline connections.

Engineered for demanding steering applications, Woodward universal joints combine high strength, accurate spline engagement and minimal rotational play in a compact assembly.

Connection Specifications

Woodward connection 201 111
Type Splined Splined

Description .750"-20 spline .625" (16 mm), 23 or 36-tooth spline

Woodward 201 – .750"-20 Spline

The Woodward 201 connection uses Woodward's .750"-20 spline profile and is used throughout the Woodward professional steering component range.

Correct spline identification is important. Nominal diameter and tooth count alone do not guarantee compatibility, as the actual spline geometry must also correspond.

A generic .750"-20 spline should therefore not automatically be assumed to fit a Woodward 201 connection.

Woodward 111 – .625" Spline (23 or 36 teeth)

The second side of the UA201111 features the Woodward 111 spline, with a nominal diameter of .625" (approximately 16 mm) and either 23 or 36 teeth, subject to profile verification.

This configuration allows a component using the Woodward 201 profile to be connected directly to a steering shaft or component with the corresponding 111 spline profile, eliminating the need for a separate spline adapter.

The reference image lists 23 or 36 teeth for connection 111. Verify the actual tooth count and mating profile before purchase or installation. Always verify diameter, spline count and spline profile when selecting a steering U-joint.

Operating Angle

The Woodward UA201111 permits angular misalignment up to 32 degrees. For normal steering operation, Woodward recommends keeping the working angle below 20 degrees.

A smaller operating angle reduces angular velocity variation through the universal joint and helps maintain smooth and consistent steering response.

Where packaging requires a larger change in steering shaft direction, using two correctly phased U-joints and an intermediate shaft can provide a better solution than operating a single joint close to its maximum angle.

Professional Motorsport Steering Component

The compact design and high mechanical strength of the UA201111 make it suitable for demanding steering installations including:

  • Professional motorsport
  • GT and touring cars
  • Prototype race cars
  • Rally cars
  • Track and competition cars
  • Custom steering shafts
  • Custom steering columns
  • Purpose-built vehicles

Woodward U-joints are particularly useful in tightly packaged vehicles where the steering shaft must negotiate chassis tubes, suspension components, engine installations or other obstructions.

Hydroline supplies genuine Woodward Steering components for professional motorsport and performance applications, including universal joints, splined shafts and specialist steering components.
